What's On Your Mind?

When you log onto Facebook the first thing that you are going to see is an empty box that reads, "What's on your mind?" And, often times, you are going to hear people making fun of this question from Facebook. But I don't think this question deserves these laughs, I think it deserves praise.

"What's on your mind?" is the question that everybody should be asking, because it's the question that everybody wants to be asked. We want to tell people what is really on our minds, what we are thinking, what is bugging us, what is exciting us, what is scaring us. We want to have a real conversation about real things that we really care about, but nobody asks because nobody wants to hear it. Instead we ask, "How are you doing?" and expect nothing other than, "Good. And you?" because we don't really care. And that's just sad.

Facebook is here asking the right question and everybody is laughing at them. That is what is wrong with society. In my opinion, and ideal group of people actually care about what is going on in everybody's lives. They care about what is bothering you or what is exciting you, but the only way to find out about these things is to ask. But nobody ever does, only Facebook.

I can't tell you how long I have been waiting for somebody to ask me, "What is on your mind?" But I can't act all high and mighty since I myself have never asked anybody else this either. I am a part of the problem also, but maybe I can be a part of the solution. Maybe we can all be a part of the solution. Let's start asking the right questions.

Let me start. What's on your mind?
