That's right, I said it. God is not enough.
It is not enough to just sit and pray to God and expect that everything will work out alright, because it won't. You need to get up and make things happen. God is not enough.
You can pray for change, you can pray for a new job, you can pray for a new life, but none of it will happen unless you help make it happen.
God doesn't work for the lazy, He only works for the grinders. He works for those who make things happen. If you pray for change, then you must get up off the couch and make a change. If you pray for a new job, then you must get up and fill out application after application for that new job. If you want a new life, then you need to get up and go get that new life. Only then will God be able to intervene and make those prayers a reality.
God is not enough. He needs you to put in an effort, only then does God work.
Let's look at one of God's most prestigious apostles, Paul. Paul wanted the world to know God, he wanted them to love God, and he wanted them to serve God. He wanted to spread God's kingdom across the entire planet. Paul prayed day in and day out to make this a reality, but the important thing is Paul didn't just sit around and wait for God to work His magic. No, he got up and he traveled to Athens, he traveled to Rome, he traveled and told the world about God. He wrote letters. He wrote to Corinth, he wrote to Galatia, he wrote to anybody he could. And that's when God worked.
God is not enough. He needs us to take action. He needs us to put the ripples in, only then will He be able to part the sea.
So, yes, lean on God when you need help. Ask Him for strength and for His guidance in all that you do, because we can do nothing without God. But never forget that He needs us to put in an effort to. He needs us to help turn those prayers into realities. He isn't here to give handouts, we need to get up and receive those blessings. They are out there, they are waiting for you, you just need to get up and go get them.
God only works if you work too.
