Cleaning House

Lately I have come to the realization that my life is way too clustered. I am oversaturated and overwhelmed by so many different objects. Simply put, I have way too many things.

All of things were beginning to pollute my mind and my time.

All of things were beginning to make my life feel so much more complicated than it needed to be.

In all honesty, I was inspired by a couple of TEDx talks. These talks really inspired me to make a my next couple of moves.
After watching these videos I realized how precious this life is and how simple it really can be. For some reason we were taught that we need all of these materialistic things in our lives. We need big houses, nice cars, fashionable clothes, fancy furniture, etc. etc. But that truth is, we don't.

There are three basic things that we need in this life: shelter, food, and clothing. But all of these things can be so simple.

As long as there is a roof over our head and a place for us to lie our head down at night, then our shelter is taken care of. We don't need these five bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living rooms houses. It's excessive and it is unnecessary. All we need is a roof, a bed, and one bathroom. And a kitchen, kitchens are nice for like cooking and stuff.

As for food, we don't need anything fancy. We don't need $20 steaks or a rack of ribs. All we need is a healthy diet filled with vegetables, fruits, protein, and blah blah blah. And all of this can be cooked for very cheap at home, we don't need to waste our money at steakhouses.

It doesn't matter what Kim Kardashian or other "celebrities " are wearing on the front cover of "We Are So Rich Magazine," clothing is not important. We don't need Gucci or Louis Vutton, all we need is a plain white tee shirt and some jeans. We don't need to spend all of our money on a closet full of designer clothing.

After hearing these messages it really got me thinking about all of the possessions that I have that I don't really need. So, I am taking the only logical step possible. Getting rid of it all.

I took a look at my closet and decided that there was way too much clothes in there. So I pulled out a few t shirts, a few pair of jeans, a few sweatshirts, and I am getting rid of the rest.

I did the same with my other possessions like lamps, posters, shoes, hats, beanies, office supplies, etc. Anything that isn't a necessity, I am tossing out.
Next, I looked at other ways that I am wasted my time. First thing that comes to my mind is my phone. So I decided to clean house on it.

I deleted my Facebook app, Twitter app, Instagram, Snapchat, email, Netflix, Sudoku, and any other app that I wasted my time using. Basically the only thing left on my phone is Google Maps, Audible, and Venmo. Shoutout to the true app homies!

But there are other things that occupy too much of my time. Things like Netflix. I love Netflix, it's my favorite thing in the world. But, honestly, I waste too much of my life watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother and The Office and New Girl and everything else imaginable. I cannot allow it to continue to steal my time away from living life to the fullest. So, for the first time in nearly five years, I am no longer a Netflix customer. Tear face emoji.

So, now that I have freed myself from all of these constricting things, I am finally free to live my life to the fullest.

Instead of watching Netflix, I will discover nature.

Instead of staring at my Twitter feed, I will speak face to face with friends.

Instead of wasting money on a new outfit, I will spend it on traveling and discovering new places.

Instead of getting lost in this oversaturated world, I will live.
